SUMMARY:Imposter Syndrome: Owning Your Worth and Helping Others Find Theirs
DESCRIPTION:Presented by: Susan M. Hahn\, MCC Candidate \nMany professionals experience Impostor Syndrome (originally and accurately titled Impostor Phenomenon)\, which involves persistent self-doubt and the inability to internalize accomplishments\, even when there is clear evidence of competence. For coaches\, understanding the impact of Impostor Syndrome on clients is critical. It can significantly affect clients’ confidence\, hinder leadership development\, and stall career progression. Many executive coaches have worked with high-achieving clients who downplay their accomplishments\, attribute their success to luck\, or constantly fear they don’t measure up. Recognizing these effects allows coaches to better support their clients in overcoming the challenges. \nThis session is led by seasoned executive coach Susan Hahn\, who will share valuable coaching techniques that empower them to guide clients with authenticity and positive impact. She will also share a practical\, research-backed tool designed to help clients identify and overcome Impostor Syndrome. Participants will have the opportunity to complete the assessment during the session to better understand the phenomenon in themselves and others. \nWHAT YOU WILL LEARN: \n\nRecognize the patterns and impact of Impostor Syndrome—in yourself and your clients—and understand how it shapes confidence\, performance\, and leadership growth.\nCreate a safe\, trusting coaching environment by skillfully responding to client vulnerability\, self-doubt\, and emotionally charged beliefs about competence.\nStrengthen your presence and active listening skills to uncover limiting beliefs\, internal narratives\, and themes that keep clients feeling “not enough.”\nUse a research-backed assessment tool to help clients build insight\, reframe their thinking\, and design confidence-building actions that foster sustained growth.\n\nSusan is an accomplished business owner\, executive coach\, workplace mediator\, and trainer who collaborates with a wide range of organizations across the United States\, Europe\, and Canada. Her extensive experience allows her to address the unique needs of diverse teams and industries\, helping them achieve their goals and improve workplace dynamics. \nIn addition to her role as CEO of Swan Consulting Group\, Susan contributes to higher education as adjunct faculty at Johns Hopkins University\, where she shares her expertise with students and professionals seeking to advance their knowledge and skills. As founding president of ICF-MD and MCC candidate\, Susan supports the coaching community in multiple ways. \nSusan holds the designation of Certified Physician Leadership Coach from the Physician Coaching Institute\, demonstrating her commitment to supporting physicians and healthcare leaders. She obtained her credentials as a mediator from the Maryland Institute for Continuing Professional Education of Lawyers (MICPEL) and The Baltimore School for Mediation\, further underscoring her ability to facilitate conflict resolution in various environments. \nAs a Wiley Partner\, Susan is certified to deliver Everything DiSC and The Five Behaviors assessments\, with access to all Wiley products designed to enhance individual and team effectiveness.
